The origins of the Toyota FJ Cruiser

A very popular model of Toyota which we supply parts for is the classic FJ series. Emily has written a short blog about the history of the FJ, hope you find it interesting!

The FJ Land Cruiser is a classic off-road vehicle that was produced by Toyota from 1960 to 1984. It was the predecessor to the popular Toyota Land Cruiser and was known for its ruggedness and reliability.

The FJ Land Cruiser was first introduced in 1960 and was based on the Toyota BJ, which was itself based on the Jeep CJ. The FJ featured a rugged body-on-frame design, live axles, and solid front and rear axles. It was powered by a 3.9-liter inline-six engine and was available with a four-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission.

Over the years, the FJ Land Cruiser was offered in a variety of body styles, including a hardtop, soft top, pickup, and wagon. It was also available with a range of engine options, including diesel and turbocharged engines.

Despite its ruggedness and reliability, the FJ Land Cruiser was eventually phased out in 1984, replaced by the more modern and luxurious Toyota Land Cruiser. However, the FJ Land Cruiser remains a popular and highly sought-after classic vehicle among off-road enthusiasts and collectors.
